I am aware that in the case under similar circumstances of a European, the punishment awarded would have been extremely lenient, but the ideas and habits of the Sikhs are so different to those of Europeans, brought up as the former are in a frontier Country, where they are accustomed from Childhood to Warfare. I should be inclined to view the matter more leniently. Under these circumstances, I request that M.E. will be pleased to remit their Sentence.
